Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that feature. The provider handles the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message as needed to answer it. Such messages remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may collect routine technical details about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Device class and operating system
- IP address assigned to the device
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- A referring website, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. We and our analytics services use them to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages are read most and where visits end. Browser controls can reject or remove cookies, although a feature may work differently when cookies are blocked.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Henderson County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by the Henderson County sheriff, the Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. North Carolina criminal-history disclosure by the Judicial Department is addressed in N.C.G.S. 15A-153. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal histories.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, rather than this policy, govern information submitted to them. We do not control a provider's retention, processing, or disclosure rules, so review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Henderson County offices, North Carolina agencies, court systems, legal resources, or commercial search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Check those rules before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. We do not operate those tracking systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that receive a submitted query
- Advertising networks that serve ads on these pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal requirement
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards protect data in our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that such data was provided, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence and applicable law. North Carolina's consumer-protection framework includes the Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act, N.C.G.S. Chapter 75. The North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records held by public agencies, not the visitor data maintained by this private site. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Object to certain processing
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Ask for access to personal data held about that visitor
- Request deletion where the law provides that right
